We arrive in the alps on a beautfiul Saturday morning...
The Austrian-Tyrolean vibe is alive and well here
A big day for Simon Gerson - never been here before...
But first we swing by the chalet for Sheppie's photo shoot - he prepared a special outfit for today's assault...
HOLD THE PHONE - we are in Vermont, not the Alps - how did that happen? I present to you a place where Mountain and Village ARE ONE. MAGIC MOUNTAIN.
Shep gets ready
Dear God - those pants look like they are made for performance
Hak, Shep and Simon
We exit the lift to witness a magical trail leading us to the goods...
Wait a second - there are LOTS of obstacles here so lets conduct a binding test...
Scenario: Skis go UNDER a root and then hit a large stump. RESULT: BINDINGS PERFORM PROPERLY
Scenario: Skis lead a skier into a tree and then....
...Throw him down a rock face. RESULT: BINDINGS PERFORM PROPERLY
With our tests complete - we launch into some hairy terrain - this looks like a nice start...
Hak is very excited about this run
Please note (and appreciate) the mandatory huck over magic's "state of the art" snow making system (has not worked since 1967).
Simon is immediately enchanted and sort of in his own world...
Nice knee drop
Here comes Chris to join Sheppie
Hak decides to throw it into mock 3 top to bottom
Next run down we decide to duck a rope and engage in a really really bad idea...
So far this closed trail seems fun
Again - this is a bad idea
Hak brushes it off and takes an aggressive line on the starboard side to setup for some pics...
The 1st time tele skier gets scared and hides in the Enchanted Forest...
Shep points out the obvious - that everyone has about 100 yards of exposed rock in front of them to ski...
Doug sniffs out an alternate portal...
Shep is wondering if he should tuck it over this rock face - after all, his pants were built for speed
Oh my God, Doug - be careful!
Sheppie has enough of waiting and shows Brendan his moves...
Sheppie is not thrilled with this next move...
This gives Sheppie a headache...
Sheppie - careful - those pants are NOT gortex...
Sheppie hears a VERY loud "POP" and is wondering if he broke something...
Assessing the damage...
