Silverton Mountain is an anomaly in the U.S. - one ancient chair lift, hike-to-terrain, optional heli bumps and summits that top out at close to 14,000 ft. The adventure begins in the town of Silverton that feels like a relic from the gold rush era and a short drive to the yurt base of Silverton mountain pairs skiers up with guides and then you're off. The terrain is great with a variety of steeps and the limited lift passes sold per day ensures an uncrowded feel. Late afternoon beers in the tent are a perfect way to end the day. Local touring options at Red Mountain Pass are also a fun add-on to a Silverton itinerary.
