Baldface
"Where is an easy place to go, that's different, with fun terrain, great guides, food, ambiance and budget sensitive?" Hands down, Bald Face Lodge is at the top of that list. Based out of the ski town that you will likely dream about moving to, Nelson BC is a 3hr drive across the border from Spokane Washington and the local vibe will quickly start to impress.
Check-in to the Hume Hotel for your first night and enjoy the jazz lounge, good food and some rest. For a warm-up, try the local hill at Whitewater for some incredible side country or do a day trip of cat skiing 45mins away at Vallhalla Powder Cats.
But the real gem of Nelson is indeed Bald Face. While this operation has generally earned a "snowboard paradise" reputation, skiers are welcome and the playful graded terrain will not disappoint. This is not a place to go for steep lines or exposed faces in the alpine but the deep tree skiing will leave you laughing. Best of all, is that no matter the weather or visibility, you're getting out every day and then coming home a pretty high stoke fest at the lodge. I brought my 138 DPS Lotus skis here and had an absolute blast. Don't believe me? Then just checkout this DPS Cinematic visit. Looked like they enjoyed themselves.
