Until a few years ago, aerial cinematography in the backcountry was only possible for the pros with big budgets and a helicopter. The drone changed everything, and ever since DJI came out with the ultra portable Mavic Pro series, it’s been a go-to in my pack. With the ability to film in 10-bit codec on DJI’s Hasselblad lens, capturing mountain landscapes and ski action cinematography across 3+ mile distances is a welcome reality. Additional toys in the kit include Insta360’s One X camera as well as DJI’s Osmo Cction. All content is edited in Final Cut Pro X and uploaded to Vimeo for the best professional quality image.
