Chamonix
Chamonix is the birthplace of alpinism and a must on any ski resume. It has terrain that can humble anyone and serves as a great place to learn or fine tune the art of ski mountaineering. However, it's not exclusive to the expert skiers - there is a great town, restaurants, shops and moderate terrain for those that tend to just enjoy cruising as well. Signage is limited here and everything you see is essentially accessible. There is no other place like Chamonix.
