Chic-Chocs

The Chic Choc mountains are found in the center of the Gaspe Peninsula in Eastern Quebec, about a ten-hour drive from Montreal (or a 90min flight).  For those that live in the Northeast United States, this place is like a bunch of Tuckerman’s all stacked up together. The snow is fantastic and the tree skiing will not disappoint.  Come prepared with your full kit, which should include crampons and an ice ax. Lastly, the St. Lawrence River is notorious for bringing cold air off the water and delivering high winds to the Chic-Chocs. Make sure you bring all necessary soft goods to protect your skin and face area from frostbite. March and April are the most popular times to go, especially during Ski Chic-Chocs’ “Crabs and Corn” fest where you can ski corn in the morning and enjoy local crab in the afternoon during an Apres.  Brilliant.
