Methven
Methven is a small town in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located near the western edge of the Canterbury Plains, 35 kilometres north of Ashburton. It was originally the railhead of a short branch railway off the Main South Line. The scenery here is stunning, featuring glaciers and dramatic peaks, with incredible views down the Main Divide to Aoraki/Mount Cook. Methven Heliskiing is based in the remote headwaters of the Rakaia River, and their terrain incorporates 3 mountain ranges and more than 250 named runs. The helipad is based at Glenfalloch Station, a working high country sheep station. Methven Heli and Harris Mountain hel (based further South in the Wanaka area) are the country’s premier operators and offer vastly different and incredible terrain.
