Pow Mow
With over 7,000 acres of skiable terrain, 144 runs, snowcat skiing, side country skiing, backcountry tours and two terrain parks, Powder Mountain is the largest ski resort by acreage in the United States. Located east of Eden, Utah and about a one hour drive from downtown Salt Lake in the opposite direction of the mainstream resorts, "Pow Mow" offers a dynamic that resort skiers crave; no lift lines, fun terrain and great snow. The resort has the “lost in time” feel as well given simple and rustic feel to the infrastructure and lodges, which is great. For a unique lodging experience, stay at the Horizon Cabins which will make you feel like you are in a minimalist lodge in the nordics. Pow Mow has an atypical layout with parking towards the top of the mountain so the “base” lodges are all located towards the summit. Give some thought ahead of time on where you want to ski and how to get there. Highly recommend the bootpack or short cat ski trip up to ski James Peak.
