Sawtooths
This is one of the best hut and touring areas in the States. 60 miles north of Ketchum and Sun Valley is Stanley, Idaho - a small town where the owner of Sawtooth Mountain Guides, Chris Lundy, will great you in his impressive guiding office, brief you on the agenda for the trip and then retreat next door for dinner and beers.
The Sawtooth backcountry has a distinct terrain profile that is very different from the Sun Valley area. The remoteness of this area is stunning and Chris Lundy has created what might be the best yurt setup in the U.S. He's also an incredible cook! Good early in the season if you want to ski deep pow in the glades or bowls but go late if you want to bag one of their signature couloirs. Highly recommend.
