Val d'Isere
Val d'Isere does not get as much attention from the U.S. as the other marquee French and Swiss resorts but it should because the terrain is pretty incredible and quite varied. The modern lift system gives access to high alpine, incredible side country and fantastic tree skiing. The nightlife is also pretty entertaining. Accommodations are plentiful as well but if you can splurge, stay in a chalet for a more local, intimate feel which includes a chef and dinner.
The close proximity to Geneva allows for one to add on other stops along the way, including Chamonix. But you could easily spend a week at Val and not be disappointed. The photos in this album highlight why this place is so much fun.
